When set, translations are evaluated by Claude. Without a key, client-side heuristics are used. Your key is stored only in this browser's localStorage.

Uses ElevenLabs neural TTS for German audio. If the key is missing or the call fails, falls back to browser voices.

For better German TTS quality, download enhanced voices in System Preferences → Accessibility → Spoken Content (macOS) or Settings → Text-to-speech (Windows).

If you have added this app to your home screen, you will need to remove it and re-add it for the new icon to take effect.

Reset Automatic Glossing

This clears which words have been automatically glossed, so all glosses will reappear on the next passage.

Reset Progress

This clears all vocabulary tracking and exercise completion data.

Import Text

Import a JSON file with additional exercises. Expected format:

Sync Progress Across Devices

Progress is stored in this browser's localStorage and does not sync automatically. Use export/import to transfer your progress between browsers or devices.

Export

Download a JSON file containing your completion data, API key, and any imported custom texts. Transfer this file to another device and import it there.

Load a previously exported progress file. This will merge with your existing progress—exercises already marked complete on this device stay complete.

Instructions

1. On the device with your current progress, click Export Progress File.
2. Transfer the downloaded .json file to the other device (e.g., via email, cloud storage, or USB).
3. On the other device, open this app, open Sync Progress, and use Import Progress File to load the file.
4. Progress is merged: any exercise completed on either device will be marked complete.

Grammatik-Datenformat aktualisiert

Das Speicherformat für Grammatikfortschritt wird auf die neue, unit-basierte Lektionsstruktur umgestellt. Vor der Migration kannst du eine JSON-Sicherungskopie deines aktuellen Zustands herunterladen.

Empfohlen: Lade die Sicherung herunter, bevor du die Migration ausführst. So kannst du im Fehlerfall den alten Zustand wiederherstellen.

„Später" überspringt die Migration für diesen Start; du bleibst auf dem alten Datenformat. Die App liest weiterhin sowohl v1 als auch v2 Einträge.
